Fantastic News Update: Introducing The Honorable Michelle Williams Court!

Fantastic News Update: On December 27, 2011, Governor Edmond "Jerry" Brown, Jr. appointed Michelle Williams Court to Superior Court Judge!

Some of you may remember my post about The Honorable Michelle Williams Court a few months ago. If not, here is a short reminder:

My interest peaked when I learned of Court due to her being a fellow African American mother and dweller in the Legal World.  Court worked as Vice President and General Counsel for Bet Tzedek, an organization that provides assistance to all eligible needy residents throughout Los Angeles County.  Court has been a constant giver to our community. Throughout her career, she worked as a Civil Rights Specialist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Project Attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California

Congratulations Your Honor! Our community is blessed to have women like you. Keep up the good work and good luck in your new position!

"If you touch my junk, I'm going to have you arrested"

How many times have I said this to someone?  Here's a vid of a man that refused to be fondled by the TSA at the airport. He refuses several types of scans and then says he doesn't want to be felt up either. What's a TSA officer to do? Well, fine him and tell him he can't go anywhere.

"I don't understand how a sexual assault can be made a condition of my flying," said 31-year-old John Tyner to a pair of Transportation Security Administration officials insisting on giving him a "groin check" before boarding his plane.

Tyner was scheduled to fly out of San Diego International Airport when he was pulled from the security line at the metal detectors and told he would be either subjected to one of the TSA's full-body scanners – which reveal a virtually nude image of passengers – or a full-body "pat-down," including an inspection of his inner thigh.

Discomforted by the invasive procedures and the thought of a security officer touching his genitals, Tyner made a joke that has since made him an instant Internet folk hero:

"If you touch my junk, I'm gonna have you arrested." Go ahead make a t-shirt.

Tyner's words have since resonated in dozens of online comments and thousands of views on YouTube, for the comment – and the controversial discussion that followed – was recorded by Tyner's cell phone. Though the phone was with his belongings, and thus only caught audio of his confrontation with TSA officials, the camera's footage is posted below:

Court bans man with low IQ from having sex

Most women with idiotic ex-boyfriends and/or baby daddies would think this next story should be a revelation for Judges all over the world. Imagine if it was possible for someone to be banned from having sex because the powers that be thinks that they are not intelligent nor responsible enough to handle the possible consequences and repercussions that may be involved. AMEN! Well, this did happen somewhere, in the UK to be exact...

A 41 year-old, known only as Alan, who lives in the UK, has an IQ of 48, a moderate learning disability and has also now been banned from having sex by a high court judge.

In the United Kingdom's Court of Protection within the Office of the Public Guardian, the judge decided his “vigorous sex drive” was inappropriate and that he did not understand what he was doing. (I know a whole lotta people that fit this description)  A psychiatrist involved in the case even tried to prevent the man being given sex education, on the grounds that it would leave him “confused”.

Where did this all come from?

Kieron by the court. Alan was also accused of making lewd gestures at children in a dentists’ surgery and on a bus, although no police action was taken.

In June 2009 the town hall began court proceedings to restrict his contact with Kieron on the grounds that he lacked mental capacity, and an interim order was made to that effect.

“Since then Alan has been subjected to close supervision to prevent any further sexual activity on his part,” except when he is alone in his bedroom.
The Judge thinks that Alan should not be allowed to have sex with anyone on the grounds that he did not have the mental capacity to understand the health risks associated with his actions. Under the judge’s order, the man is now subject to “close supervision” in order to ensure he does not break the highly unusual and unfair order. The judge said it requires an understanding and awareness of the “mechanics of the act”, “that there are health risks involved” and that sex between a man and a woman may lead to pregnancy.  He said that the psychiatrist thought Alan “believed that babies were delivered by a stork or found under a bush”, and that “sex could give you spots or measles”.
Under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, (IN THE UK) its judges have the power to make life or death decisions for people deemed to lack the intelligence to make them for themselves – such as ordering that they undergo surgery, have forced abortions, have life-support switched off or be forced to use contraception.

On that basis the judge ruled that Alan did not have the capacity to consent to sex, but also ordered that the council should provide him with sex education “in the hope that he thereby gains that capacity".

So, what do you think, could this fly in America?

Bruno Mars Takes Plea Deal For His Cocaine Arrest

A bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino noticed a man taking a long time in a stall with a bag of a white, powdered substance just before 2 a.m., and summoned security.  Police said Mars handed over a bag containing 2.6 grams of cocaine, and told the arresting officer he'd never used drugs before. Police said Mars handed over a bag containing 2.6 grams of cocaine, and told the arresting officer he'd never used drugs before. Police said Mars handed over a bag containing 2.6 grams of cocaine, and told the arresting officer he'd never used drugs before.

He spent a night in the Clark County jail in Las Vegas after his arrest in September following a performance at a Las Vegas nightclub.

"Bruno is very appreciative he is being given this opportunity as a first offender not to suffer any conviction and instead to have his charge dismissed," Berk told The Associated Press. "He is taking all of this quite seriously."

The plea agreement will let Mars step past the Las Vegas cocaine charge a week before the 53rd Grammy Awards show in Los Angeles. Mars is nominated for seven awards, including best male pop vocal for his hit, "Just the Way You Are." He also co-wrote "(Expletive) You" and was featured on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" — a nominee for record of the year.

I am so disappointed in him and I hope that he is not hooked on this stuff. He seems like such a talent and he is so new to the game. His image portrays him to be so raw and natural. I hope he this works out well for him.

Mother in Florida Killed Her Children For Talking Back. Can We Say Overreacting?

Julie Powers Schenecker, Tampa Florida resident, shot and killed her both of her children for being "mouthy." (ain't that a bitch. Has she met a teenager?)

Schenecker, 50-year-old wife of a U.S. Army colonel, shot her son twice in the head "for talking back" as she drove him to soccer practice. As if that wasn't enough, she then drove home and shot her daughter in the head while she studied at her computer. Investigators believe the teens "never saw it coming." Both were killed with a .38-caliber pistol.

This was a planned double murder, she left a note detailing her plans to kill her disrespectful children and then herself, saying "they talked back and were mouthy and that she was going to take care of it," police said.
Julie Schenecker was jailed and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Wearing a white jumpsuit, she was led into a county jail later Friday visibly shaking and being supported by a sheriff's deputy.

Can you say stressed out mother to say the least?

Delta Airlines Harrasses A Famous Passenger For His Tattoos

I have no tattoos myself. You know why? I could never imagine what to get permanently put on my body that I would want when I'm like 80. At one point, when I was in junior high, I wanted to get Bugs Bunny's female counterpart "Babs" with a pink dress holding a lollipop on my lower back. Can you imagine that being pierced in the forehead when I got my Epidural shot? Really.

Los Angeles Times Reports - Los Angeles food stylist Adam C. Pearson had his adult world shaken up by his tattoo, complements of his adolescence. As he sat waiting for takeoff on a Delta flight, the flight attendant to step off the plane. (By the way, this is the second time there was a major goof by Delta airlines this year, see "FUI: Drunk Flying Delta Airline Pilot") He was then interrogated by she and the captain because another passenger had reported him for suspicious behavior. The passenger mentioned that Pearson had the words "Atom Bomb" tattooed across his fingers. This is not a behavior but an accessory on his body, but who's counting?

Pearson (a frequent Delta passenger with over 142,000 air miles) explained that the tattoos referred to a childhood nickname. "I was just shocked," Pearson said. "All eyes were on me, I felt everyone staring at me and I was like, 'I didn't do anything.' "

News broke through the social media scene because Pearson tweeted before the plane took off. His message: "Just pulled off delta flight, passenger said I was suspicious looking due to my tattoos @DeltaAssist not happy at all #goldmedallion fail" By the time he landed, he had 150 e-mails from L.A.'s close-knit food world, where Pearson is well-known for his stylish presentation of food so that it can be photographed for glossy magazines, advertisements and cookbooks.

A Delta representative told Pearson the airline would look into the incident. “A public apology would be nice,” Pearson said. “I’m not out for blood,” he added, but why didn’t they offer to book that other person on another flight if they didn’t like my tattoos? Why was that other person more important than me?”

WHAT?! Fruit Roll-ups Aren't Good For You?!

fruit-roll-ups-300x300

...But they are made of fruit aren't they?
General Mills Inc. was sued on Tuesday by a Payton McClure, who is described as a "life-long consumer" of General Mills products, [who isn't] for allegedly misleading consumers about the nutritional and health qualities of its Fruit Roll-Ups.

According to the complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, General Mills does not properly disclose that its fruit products, including Fruit Roll-Ups, Fruit by the Foot and Fruit Gushers, contain partially hydrogenated oil.

The complaint said use of the oil rendered "false and misleading" marketing over the last six years that General Mills fruit snacks were "nutritious" and "healthy to consume," and thus deserved premium prices. She seeks class-action status on behalf of purchasers of the fruit snacks, compensatory and punitive damages close to $5 Million, and other remedies.

"To our knowledge, this suit has not been served," said General Mills spokeswoman Kirstie Foster.

The case is McClure v. General Mills Inc, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 10-05015.
